Our Verdict

The Igloo works A publicized, though those claims aren't spectacular and neither is this cooler. It has decent cooling power and a generous capacity. However, unlike near thermoelectrical models, it has no more hotness serve and is so poorly ready-made that a piece ripped right off during our testing. This cooler not only scored the lowest boilersuit but is also passabl expensive to flush.

Pros Good cooling power, large capacity, can use as chest or lasting Very energy efficient, relatively twopenny-halfpenny, impressive minimum temperature, astonishingly whippersnapper, long electric cord Good energy options, solid insulation, relatively lightweight, inexpensive Tiptop portable, very tranquility, prat be heatless or hot, pretty low energy utilisation Decent temperature control, easily portable, ergonomic shape, favourable size of it
Cons No heat occasion, not durable, lid strap detached during testing Not durable, takes a years to cool, insulation non great, within reason loud Not great temperature control, baskets aren't great, home shape is challenging Can't control temperature, not the best seal, USB can't exist used in computer, plastic hinges, unknown longevity Small interior, not great insulation, oddly shaped inside
Rear Ancestry A no-frills thermoelectric cooler that works fine, though it's not really tough If you're on a tighter budget simply still want mid-level carrying into action, we recommend this model An inexpensive option that's tall and slender with best insulant merely unimpressive minimum temperatures Quiescent and tiny, this is a comme il faut personal cooler, though with several limitations A small tank that heats and cools, with a handy shape to be an armrest and favourable strap to tote it around

Temperature Control

As Iglu claims, this thermoelectric model was able to reach 36º F below ambient temperature. However, most thermoelectrical models reach 40º at a lower place ambient, so we aren't that impressed. And just as IT states helpfully on a stumper on the lid, information technology won't really cool table of contents from way temperature — you need to pre-chill them before using the cooler. This is also the only thermoelectric cooler we tested that doesn't also give birth a heat function. A detail that we found odd, as thermoelectric coolers work by pumping hot beam from one side to the other and so, therefore, are easy to reverse the focussing that palaver is streamlined. We're unsure as to wherefore the Igloo lacks this have.

Insulating material

All thermoelectric coolers we time-tested showed about the same performance in insulatory capacity, and the Igloo came in right in the middle of the take. However, this model is quite sick ready-made. The lid won't stay vulnerable for loading and unloading, and during our testing, the screw holding the connector between the body and lid of the cooler ripped down from the lid. We likewise recovered many user complaints online of other pieces of this cooler beingness unable to withstand the test of time.

Energy Consumption

Though not as power-hungry as some of the competition, the Igloo is no bitty feeder when it comes to electricity. It draws 55.1 Watts — more than uncomplete of that of the large compressor coolers we dependable! It also has no battery protective cover settings, and can easily drain your car electric battery dry if you let it. The manual actually states that this unit tooshie't comprise left plugged into a car that's non on for longer than 2 hours. This certainly won't get you done a hot summertime dark of car camping!

Ease of Purpose

Spell several other thermoelectric models we proven are designed to exist able to hold ice like a regular cooler and extend the life of that ice, the Igloo terminate't have any ice or fluids inside IT. That's a pretty big detriment for anyone hoping to achieve USDA food-safe temperatures if it's warmer than 76º F outside. That moderately major flaw notwithstanding, the Igloo does have a decently large capacity of 60 cans — and beers operating theater sodas don't need to make up 40º F. The Igloo is also uncomparable of the only coolers we tested that comes with a conflate replacement, which is handy.

Portability

Compared to the heavyweight compressor models in this review, the Igloo's miserable 16.2 pounds is nothing. It is the heaviest of the electricity models we tried and true, though they are more synonymous in weight vs. capacity than the compressor units. The handles of the Igloo retract into the overall shape of the chest, which is a pretty neat feature when you want to twinge this little box into a tight space. It too has a long DC cord, at 7' 10.5" — though no AC cord is included.

Features

The Igloo is a pretty dim-witted cooler, with not even a heating plant function. It has a small strap on the cord to support it wound dormy and organized. It's a bit noisy to sit next to, but nothing compared to the hums of some others we tested.

Value

Igloo itself offers this role model for a much high price than we think its performance warrants. All the same, during the time we've been testing our unit, we've seen a extensive rove of prices from a ton of different retailers, thusly it's possible there's a deal out on that point that makes this humble thermoelectrical cooler worth it.

Finish

The Igloo is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get benignant of production. While that's not necessarily a bad thing, therein case, it's far outshone by its competition. It lacks a heat function and isn't durable. However, IT does a decent job of temperature control and has a fairly queen-size content. If this simplicity does the trick for you, and you assume't nou few downfalls, you might comprise alright with this lackluster cooler from Igloo.
